In my opinion, a great tailored blazer is a necessity in every girl’s wardrobe. There will be times when you either want to prep up your look, or you need to add that professional piece to your workwear outfit. If you want to look polished and professional, whether it’s for an interview, presentation, or professional networking event, you can’t go wrong with a tailored blazer. Being petite, I often have trouble finding a blazer that doesn’t overwhelm my frame. The stores that have pleasantly surprised me with great options for petite frames are Ann Taylor Loft, H&M, Zara, and Evernew.

Take Me to Paris

I love a good beret. Finding one that doesn’t make me look like there is an awkward mushroom sitting on my head… well, that’s a different story. I was lucky enough to find this beret with a cute little pom-pom on top of it from H&M. Wearing it makes me feel like I’m back in the city of love. Paris was everything I had ever dreamed of and I can’t wait to go back and visit one day. The architecture is so intricate and beautiful, they food is scrumptious, and I could just listen to people speaking French all day. One of these days, we’ll go back. 🙂 But until then, whenever I’m having those yearnings of going back, I’ll pop on my little beret, eat a croissant, some creme brulee, a few macarons, or a couple cream puffs. Wait a minute, this sounds dangerous, maybe I’ll just stick with the beret. 😉

Still Sweater Weather

This is one of my favorite skirts in my closet. The combination of peach and gold with the cinched waist and subtle pleats from the top caught my eye immediately. Another thing that makes it a favorite of mine, is that I wore this skirt to our wedding rehearsal dinner this past September. So  this will be one of those items that I’ll keep in my closet long after it still fits. I’ve been eyeing it recently, wondering how I can make it work when the weather is still a little on the chilly side. In comes a beloved trend I’ve seen popping up everywhere: tucking sweaters into skirts. What better way to be comfy, cute, and warm?

And with that, I give you a goofier side of myself. Well, because, we can’t always pretend to be vogue while perfecting the blue steel face and trying to avoid eye contact with the strangers walking by wondering, “Why is that poor man climbing on those rocks and rolling around in dirt to take pictures of that girl?” Sometimes, we just have to be our silly selves. 🙂

DIY Boyfriend Jeans: Styled

First off, Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope today is filled with love and spent with those special to you, whether it’s a valentine or all your galentines! 🙂 Thank you for showing me some love and popping by to read.

In one of my recent posts (click here to see), I showed you how to create your own distressed/destroyed boyfriend jeans! I love this trend and especially how  it looks dressed up with a pair of heels. AND, they’re so comfy! I mean, who wants to peel off a pair of skin tight skinny jeans every time they want to wear some denim? 😉 Not me! Here are the finished DIY jeans and how I styled them with some of my thrifted treasures! I was so happy to find these Citizens of Humanity jeans for only $7.99. In fact, this completed look costs well under $100!

By the way, I was NOT in Vancouver when these photos were taken, otherwise I would’ve been freezing my tail off in this outfit. 😉 I came down to Southern California for a family event so I was soaking in some sunshine.

If you want to try this DIY tutorial, click here. Let me know if you try it out!

Thanks for reading! Happy ❤ Day!

This Sunday was a lazy day as Sundays should be sometimes. We took a stroll around Granville Island which is one of my favorite places in Vancouver. The rest of the day was spent watching football, hanging out with D, and watching Orange is the New Black. In this outfit, I felt comfortable ALL day and there’s something about a denim shirt and a great pair of leggings that can do that for you. I have been loving a good casual boot like this lately and I love the peek-a-boo aztec design if you so choose to button down your boot and reveal it. Versatility wins again!

Review: In these photos I’m wearing Make Up Forever’s Aqua Rouge Waterproof Liquid Lip Color in the color 14 Light Rosewood.

I thought I’d give you a quick review because this stuff is amazing! This is a dual ended lip color with the color on one side and a clear gloss on the other end to lock in the color. I am always looking for a good long lasting lip color that doesn’t transfer because, let’s face it, our men don’t want to end up wearing our lipstick after just a quick peck on the lips. I wore this for 7 hours including eating and drinking before needing a little touch up. Many lip colors that claim to be long lasting can really dry out the lips but this didn’t for me.

Two things to note: 1) the color shows up darker on my lips than in the tube and 2) this stuff is REALLY long lasting so I needed to use my eye makeup remover on a cotton pad to get this off.

Since the beginning of Fall and Winter I have really been digging patterned tights. They serve a dual purpose of keeping those legs warm and spicing up any look. I especially love this pair because the vertical lined pattern elongates the legs and being 5’2″ I can definitely appreciate any elongation I can get. 🙂 Pairing fun tights with a pair of shorts makes a perfect Girl’s Night Out outfit. I could just dance the night away in this outfit. To me, the icing on the cake for this outfit is the shorts. I love the beaded detailing and love even more that I didn’t have to spend a fortune for them!

Thank you to the man behind the camera for encouraging me to follow the things I am passionate about and letting me be me 100% of the time. Even if that includes waiting for me to change my outfit for the 4th time and driving around in the rain to find a dry spot for a decent shot.

First of all, Happy New Year! 2013 was an amazing year for me with many wonderful milestones. I graduated, I moved to a new country, and I married the love of my life. I can’t wait for what’s in store for 2014. I have to say, I’m feeling pretty inspired. 🙂 And with that, here is my first blog post of 2014.

I can pretty confidently say that no matter how glamorous the gal, sometimes you don’t want to think too much about your outfit. You just want to throw on a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Here is a tribute to the every day t-shirt and jeans with a twist. I threw on my comfy olive green utility jacket, rolled up the sleeves for added comfort, paired it with one of my new favorite statement necklaces, and a pair of boots with gold detailing… Voila! Easy, comfortable, with a little bit of oomph.

Thanks for reading! 🙂
